Community Christmas Carols
Birchwood Community Church who have this year redeveloped the former Silver Birch pub into The Encounter Centre, organised a Community Carols service outside the Birchwood Resource Centre, together with Birchwood Brass Band. It was on the last Sunday evening before Christmas, 20th December, a cold crisp evening with snow that had fallen earlier in the day. Here are some photos of the event. You can also see these and others on the website of Birchwood Community Church (link opens in new window).
The Birchwood Shopping Centre Christmas Extravaganza
In 2009, the Christmas Extravaganza was on Thursday 19th November. By then the lights were already on, but there was still a celebration with celebrity singers and a fireworks display.
The stage was set up outside the main entrance to the Shopping Centre. Top of the bill was the popular X-Factor finalist Rachel Adedeji who stayed around for an autograph session before travelling back down to London. Rachel looks to be set for stardom and I hope she has a great singing career ahead of her! Also singing were local singer Lucie Evans and the winner of the local talent competition Birchwood's Got Talent, Rachel Holden.
Here are some photos and videos of the event.
Warrington Town Centre
A video that I took of the Christmas lights being switched on. The event took place on 12th November 2009 and attracted huge crowds. Top of the bill was another X Factor finalist Lucie Jones, although by the time we got there, Old Market Place was full and no more people were being allowed in. This video was mainly filmed from the skittles at Market Gate.
